On 8 October, the NHS Workforce Alliance exhibited and presented at PeopleFirst 2026: The NHS Workforce Transformation, Productivity & Staffing Conference.
Hosted by Convenzis at Prospero House in London, this marks our fourth consecutive year supporting these important workforce events. As Headline Sponsor, we had a fantastic opportunity to engage with colleagues from across the NHS, listen to their experiences and deepen our understanding of workforce priorities.
Our Operations Director, Will Laing, delivered a well-received session, sharing insights into current trends and observations including:
- the importance of recognising wider workforce cost implications when reducing temporary staffing as capacity pressures to maintain service delivery can drive increased spend in other areas such as insourced and outsourced healthcare services
- available data sources and commercial intelligence that can help identify workforce demand and spend, leading to improved planning, greater efficiency, and better value for money.
Will also emphasised that temporary workers, many of whom are clinically trained professionals with years of NHS experience, should not simply be treated as a burden on NHS finances. Their contribution should be viewed with the respect and recognition we give to all NHS colleagues, particularly from the point of view of recruitment, retention, and staff well-being – which are also key priorities in the NHS.
At our exhibition stand, workforce specialists from across the Alliance team were extremely busy making new connections and sharing how we support NHS organisations in overcoming workforce challenges.
We are grateful to Convenzis for delivering another successful and superbly attended workforce event. Thanks to everyone who visited us on the exhibition stand and for your positive feedback on Will’s presentation.
