On 2 October the NHS Workforce Alliance exhibited and presented at the 17th NHS Workforce Conference – South, hosted by Convenzis at Prospero House in London. This is the third year we’ve participated in this extremely well organised event which brought together healthcare leaders, policymakers, and workforce experts to discuss strategies for future-proofing the NHS workforce.
Our Operations Director, Will Laing, delivered a thought-provoking session on the evolving landscape of contingent labour supply in the NHS. His talk covered key themes including:
- the balancing of bank and agency staffing
- the importance of cross-functional decision making
- emerging workforce patterns that include commissioning private sector services, use of technology, permanent recruitment and staff well-being.
Will also emphasised the importance of treating agency workers – many of whom are clinically trained professionals with years of NHS experience – with the respect and recognition we give to all NHS colleagues as their role remains essential to create a flexible and sustainable workforce. His messages resonated strongly with the audience and an interesting Q&A followed.
On our exhibition stand, workforce specialists from across the Alliance team were on hand to discuss how we support NHS organisations in overcoming workforce challenges. It was great to connect with many new NHS colleagues and workforce providers, as well catching up with contacts we regularly work with.
We’re grateful to Convenzis for organising yet another successful workforce event. Thanks to everyone who visited us on the exhibition stand and attended Will Laing’s late morning presentation.
If you missed us at the event and would like to learn more about how we can support your workforce strategy, please don’t hesitate to get in touch using the contact form on our website.
