Colleagues from across the North of England attended our Medical Staffing Roundtable to discuss workforce challenges and brainstorm solutions.

Delegates from 23 NHS organisations took part in a varied programme of events at The Studio, Leeds, which included sessions on addressing workforce challenges, regional landscape overview, legal news and the latest from the NHS Workforce Alliance.
Claire Rix and Martin Johnson-Umpleby, from the Yorkshire and North East region of NHS England, provided updates on the regional landscape and an overview of the optimisation programme, before leading a roundtable session on challenges in medical staffing.
Colleagues discussed potential solutions to these challenges, and Amy Millson, from Hill Dickinson, provided a legal update focussed on medical staffing options for the NHS.
Claire and Martin wrapped up their session with a review of colleagues’ solutions, and how these could be turned into workable actions. Colleagues also heard updates from our Operations Director, Will Laing, and NOE CPC’s Associate Director of Procurement, Joanne Barton.
My key takeaway was that everyone from every organisation wanted to make improvements for our NHS, and was open to new ideas on how to make it happen.
We know that there are a lot of common challenges in the medical staffing landscape right now, but we heard a lot of solutions being discussed and, by working together, we can begin to put these solutions into action.
